Edmunds Road Residence
with Jan Gleysteen Architects
The strategy for the landscape of this new shingle style house was to provide a setting that would allow the house to blend into a traditional neighborhood of established homes. Mature pines at the street were retained and bolstered with plantings of dogwoods, rhododendrons and azaleas. At the front foundation, a restrained palette of low groundcovers and perennials is punctuated by a pair of large specimen boxwood at the front door. The bluestone terrace in the rear, accented by a flowering fringe tree, lilacs and perennials, occupies one of the principal views through the house and acts as an extension of the family room.
